Truth. We have purchased cassette copies of both 'Forever' by the Wu Tang Clan (1997) and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's best-selling record to date, 'E. 1999 Eternal' (1995), for a mere one hundred cent. When confronted with the sophomore efforts of these popular middle 1990s-era rap groups, two obvious questions arise: Whatever happened to the young Bones Guts 'n' Murder? And why are hyphens called into use in 'thugs' relation to 'harmony', but Bone is Alone? (yes, Bizzy).

G-Funk. Cleveland. Hard Luck. Stories. Quick, controlled rhymes like a porkish military man in a tight-fitting uniform firing off rounds at a series of small, consecutive targets. Praise is given to God's weed. Eric "Easy-E" Wright serves as executive producer. And of course, Buck, Buck, 2 all dem thugs locked down - just serve out ya' sentence and be cool, and to all dem otha hoodz we got much love 4 y'all too, so it ain't no need to "playa" hate. Our appetite for the occult is satisfied here. I enjoy that aspect of the rap community in the midst of the glowering nineties, perhaps best made illustrate by the seminal 'Niggamortis' (Sex Feet Deep), which we all so adore. Perhaps a result of the allure of Danzig comic ultra-violence paired with the realities of life for these young rapsters? And 2 all y'all busta azz "playa" hating niggaz, y'all know who y'all iz, when we see you itz on, fuck dis rap shit.

G-Rap. 'Forever'. Yes, yes we all know this. A fine album, if a letdown compared to the First Wave. Such comparison, however, to me seems hasty and inept. The album flows throughout the course of time and stands firmly today on the same robust hooves which carried it to quadruple platinum status in the first place. A fully realized album in the true sense of the words, and I simply cannot wait for my 'Butter Peacan' tee to arrive.
